The third largest urban agglomeration in Madhya Pradesh, and 38th largest urban agglomeration in India, it is known for its striking marble rock formations (Bhedaghat) on the banks of the river Narmada. River narmada crosses close to the Jabalpur. Even though Jabalpur doesn’t have much of scenic beauty, but is complied with many historical notes that cannot be left out if you step to this town.
Bhedaghat is known for a major attraction - a waterfall known as Dhuandhar, which looks like smoke coming out of the river and therefore it got its name as "Dhuan(smoke)-dhar(flow of water)". The travel between the marble rock mountains in a boat on the river Narmada is an amazing site in the moonlight which should not be missed. The tranquil flow of this Holy river nurtures the Bhedaghat equal to the heaven and makes this place a heavenly palace It is located by the side of river Narmada and around 20 km from Jabalpur city. Its most attractive sights are the Dhuandhar Falls, Marble Rocks, and the Chaunsath Yogini temple.
